_My Autobiography
I am Elve Olaivar Gumanit, married already. My first name is supposed to be Mary Lionel unfortunately my grandfather forgot it the time he went to the city hall for registration. My parents call me” Langga” while my friends call me “red horse” because I was such a tall and a thin girl before who loved wearing red color shirt. I was born last March 25, 1976 in Poblacion II, Mabini; Bohol- the land known for its God crafted wonder of nature, the Chocolate Hills. My parents are Perlita Felecio Olaivar and Benedicto Fostanes Olaivar. They are both Boholanos. I am their only child. Some people believed that being the only child is lucky, yes! that is true. I grown up with them with a life full of love even we lack of material things. A loner type of person and that is me. Hang –outs with friends? that is a big no-no to me. Doing school assignments and household chores are my daily routine. I want to keep everything in our house well arranged, clean and not messy. I’ m not a spoiled brat; my parents disciplined me in a well manner. Making friends is not hard for me. As much as possible I want to live a life full of dignity and honesty. This is the only thing I’m proud of and wanted to pass on to my child.
At the age of four, my family moved from Bohol to Valenzuela City. There, I studied at Bagbaguin Elementary School from grades one to four. I transferred from grade five until second year high school to Canumay Municipal School. Unluckily, my parents lost their job so they decided to return to our province in Bohol. We encountered a lot of adjustments and difficulties again. I continued my studies in a private school- Santa Monica Institute. Chaos begins and regrets so much. I graduated with honors and granted a Gerry Roxas Scholarship as president of the student body, the Supreme Student Government Organization 1993-1994. I was just an average student during my academic life. I don’t believed in miracles but then it happened and make wondered, I was the NCEE topnotcher in my batch. After summer, we went to Cebu City and studied at the University of the Visayas. I stopped going to school because of financial matter.
I grabbed the opportunity to work as a sales clerk at a department store for three months then had been hired as one of the company employee of Mactan Parts Technology, Mactan Export Processing Zone, Cebu. Worked as regular employee. After five years, I married to Quintin P. Gumanit. The church wedding was a cold, rainy December 7, 1998 in our town. My husband was my schoolmate. We are blessed with one child named Dawn Jovie. We worked together. Later, we realized that it is best to obtain a degree and work in the government. While working as a security guard, he continued his studies in Bachelor of Elementary Education at the University of Cebu. I still worked at company to support our financial needs then I’ll be the next after his studies. Our plan been pushed through. He successfully graduated last March 25 ‘2006 and passed the teachers board exam the same year also. Since there’s no item in the province, we decided to move here last 2007 luckily through the help of our Almighty God he is currently teaching at Bagong Tanyag Elementary School. He let me continue my studies first at the Arellano University –Pasay then took up BEED for three semesters only. Due to high tuition fees, I transferred at The Fisher Valley College, Hagonoy, Taguig City last November 2010 with the same course.
